The Coolest Surfer of the Net.. Piclens

While surfing the net, I came across something which is intriguing. Upon installation, I tested it out immediately with great anticipation. On the website, it has many rave reviews, calling it the coolest media browser, and so on. Curious, I downloaded the extension for firefox. For those using other web browers, you may visit their main website to download, like internet explorer and such. Piclens

Piclens really gives en entire new experience to web surfing through images. However, it does not work with every website yet. Only some of the more popular ones. Here is a list.

Photo Sites

Flickr
Photobucket
Picasa Web Albums
Fotki
FotoTime
deviantART
Smugmug

Social Networking
Facebook
MySpace
Bebo
Hi5
Friendster

Image Search

Google Images

Yahoo Images
Ask Images
Live Images

AOL Images

Webhosts/Galleries
Freewebs
Adobe Lightroom

Other Media RSS-enabled web sites.

Being more familiar with google, I tried out this new add-on with google image search. I typed "serene" and the results showed. If you hover your cursor about the images, a little play button can be seen. Clicking on it would activate piclens. As I slide through, its a little daunting, as the images just wouldn't end. The images load quickly, almost immediately. Now, browsing through the net would be faster, at the expense of words. Many anticipate that this would be popular in time to come.

HOW TO USE PICLENS
1. Visit one of the PicLens enabled sites listed above, and then mouseover any image. A special PicLens icon will then appear on top of that image.
2. Click the PicLens icon that appears, and your browser will automatically transform into a full-screen 3D wall of images.
3. There you can scroll the wall by dragging the scroll bar or by simply dragging your mouse across the screen. You can also zoom by clicking an image or by using the scroll wheel on your mouse, if you have one.
4. Finally, you can go full-screen by double clicking the image or by clicking the toggle button on the bottom left corner of the PicLens window.
5. If you wish, you can jump to the corresponding webpage of the image by clicking the small arrow button located next to the website logo at the top left corner of the PicLens window.
