Ervin Wurm (German for worm), is one of the premier and most important sculptors of Austria. He often explores relationship between pedestal, the fixing of form, the function of gravity and the manipulation of volume. Some of his notable works are “One Minute Sculpture” and the “Fat Car”. Erwin Wurm was born in Bruck an de Mur, Austria in 1954. He lives and works in Vienna where he has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts since 2002. He has exhibited internationally including at the Drawing Center in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, MOMA in New York, Lyon Biennale (2000 and 2005) and the 49th Venice Biennale.
